Volunteering with Kids Zone Summer Day Camps is a great way to spend a week of your summer.
If you are going into grade 9, 10, or 11 we would love to have you join our volunteer team!
Volunteers are expected to
- Bring a smile and a great attitude
- Be on time every day (usually half an hour before the campers come)
- Be a good role model
- Participate in games and activities
- Attend out-trips
- Be willing to help out wherever the staff needs you
In addition, you will get a sneak peek at what it takes to run a summer camp!
Leadership
We want to help you grow as a leader. In 2022 we started giving volunteers the opportunity to work together as a team to create and run their own game or activity on Thursdays (with help from staff, of course!). It can be something as simple as teaching the kids to play a particular dodgeball variation, or as unique as the group wants to make it. We love seeing your creativity and we want to give you a chance to see some of what goes into running a summer camp. Whether or not you ever work at a summer camp, this gives you a neat experience that you can talk about on your resumé.
At the end of the summer you will receive a letter from the Director stating that you have given 33 hours of your time to volunteering with Kids Zone Day Camps. This is also a super easy way to satisfy the 30 hours of work experience / community service required to graduate high school.
