Missional Communities

The vision for Sunshine Ridge is that we wouldn't just be an event on a Sunday morning, but the church scattered throughout the neighbourhood living on mission the rest of the week. While we are a work in progress in this area, our desire is that Sunshine Ridge will be made up of families of servant missionaries who are sent to different neighbourhoods or networks to demonstrate and declare good news of the kingdom of God by living on mission together. These are called Missional Communities.

What if Church wasn't a place you go but who you are?

What if a few neighbors lived out faith with you in the everyday rhythms of life? You'd share meals, watch each others kids, party together, serve neighbors, restore what's broken in your community, talk about Jesus a lot and see people begin to follow him. It would be messy and it would be glorious.

We believe the mission of making disciples as the Bible defines it demands lots of life lived together, not just a couple hours on a Sunday. The Bible's New Testament is full of "one another" commands - love one another, bear one another's burdens, teach one another, forgive one another, encourage one another, serve one another. And Jesus says making disciples involves teaching others to obey his commands.

The main way we live out that mission of making disciples in everyday life is through what we call missional communities. These groups of 8-20ish people are truly the primary organizing structure of Sunshine Ridge.

Jesus gave his followers the mission to make disciples, teaching them to walk in his ways in an abundant life lived close to him that would show the world what he is like.

Whether you consider yourself part of the Sunshine Ridge family—or if you're just checking out what it looks like to live as Jesus lived—it is our desire that everyone would be an active member in one of these communities that bring life, healing and growth.

We desire to see Surrey & North Delta so saturated with Jesus's people, the Church (not just us), that every day, every person gets to hear about and experience the love of Jesus through his people.
